you light lanterns. Your mom ruins it.

We bought some impressive lanterns from Alabama, and man are those things bigger than I thought.

In the sky, they're quite wonderful and romantic floating up there, glowing dreamily.  They always remind me James and the Giant Peach, and for that sake we're going to take a moment and enjoy this song bit.

So I wanted to have that moment, and maybe make a few wishes on my giant, fire lantern purchased across state borders, but my mom was all,  "You'll shoot your eye out!" or something like that.

Granted, she may have had a point.  We live near power lines and there are some pretty tall trees around us...

No!  No.  She's so wrong.  We clearly knew what we were doing with those lanterns, having not done it before but always wishing we had.

It was pretty shaky when the paper part swooped by that power cable and slowed its descent by our pine tree in the front yard, but still.

Professionals.
